N21: Infringement of Copyrght

Hi Everyone

This weekend we have a BDS scheduled in every state, and we have an important announcement to make with regards recording of anything in the venue, during these BDSs.

As you know recording at any N21 events is not allowed, due in part to intellectual property, and the accreditation agreement with Amway to ensure their guidelines are strictly adhered to.

However, there is another most important reason why we cannot allow anyone to record at anytime.

The music industry has actively engaged legal staff to look for infringement of copyright at all events. These are not staff that are in the venue at the time, rather, they scrutinise Youtube and Facebook, looking for any vision, which includes music.  This means, that even something that might seem trivial, for example, a recording on a phone of someone being recognised.  If there is any music connected to that recording  - you have breached copyright.

The music industry, as you might imagine, has lost significant revenue because of illegal downloads and other illegal methods of music obtained. They have a financial model that needs to be met and will pursue this strenuously.

Subsequently - ANY RECORDING DEVICE activated (phones or ipad etc) during the meeting will be confiscated, and returned after the session.

We apologise, and we know how important these special recognitions and speakers are to you and acknowledge that it seems trivial. But at $100,000 fine for each illegal item, we have to make you aware, and will enforce this at all events.

Regards
